Project Thanks

This special Thanksgiving meal for Sparta senior citizens has been a tradition at St. Mary’s for more than 30 years.  We donate and prepare a traditional Thanksgiving Feast for more than 100 senior citizens in Sparta; for most of them, this will be their holiday dinner. This event is sponsored by the Outreach Committee and many helping hands. The Senior and Junior Youth Group help to serve the meal.

There are a number of ways you can be part of putting this Celebration together, such as shopping, setting up, roasting a bird with your favorite dressing and gravy, peeling, chopping, serving, and clean-up. This is a great hands-on Outreach Project.

We will gather on Saturday, November 17th at 9am in the kitchen at St Mary’s to peel, cook, and mash over 100 lbs. of potatoes. We will cook the carrots, fill the cranberry cups, and set up the Dining Room at Knoll Heights Village. On Sunday after the 10:30 am service, we will transport the meal and the Party begins!

Please look for more information as we get closer, or speak with Cathy Vonderahe to choose where you would like to help.
