St. Mary's Teen comes to the aid of young Mothers in Need

Birth Haven is one of several organizations St. Mary's Episcopal Church Outreach supports.


Birth Haven is an independent, non-sectarian, non-profit organization that provides shelter, support, and education for homeless, pregnant women and girls. Established in 1985, Birth Haven, Inc is a 501(c)3 organization that supports pregnant girls and young women from throughout the state of New Jersey and its Tri-State area. The program operates a transitional living facility in Newton, New Jersey that can house 9 individuals and their babies at any given time. Most residents are between the ages of 17 and 21, and represent fullest diversity in race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and life circumstances.


Hannah Aroune is the youngest daughter of Dave and Laura Aroune, Hannah and her family have been long time parishioners at  St. Mary's Episcopal Church.


Hannah is a Member of Girl Scout Troop 936. She recently completed her Silver Award Take Action project. The project benefited Birth Haven.


She hosted a diaper drive, bake sale, Girl Scout Junior meeting (4th graders) where younger girls made crafts for the mothers,  In total Hannah collected $1650 and spent 58 hours of dedication to the project.


On Sunday May 4, Hannah presented the vital necessities she was able to procure with the donations she received so they could be blessed prior to being distributed.
