Lent at St. Mary's Episcopal Church Back

Sunday Adult Inquirer’s Class: Bring your Questions

Fr. Orion will be leading this class for any adults who want to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church or any adult who is curious or confused about Christianity, Anglicanism, Jesus, Bible, Church History or the Book of Common Prayer, among others. The class meets every Sunday from 9:20 to 10:20. The first class on February 21 will focus on the Bible.

Tuesday Morning Class: The Many Faces of Jesus

Throughout epochs and cultures the significance of Jesus was interpreted in many different ways. For some he was the King of Kings, for others the Liberator, yet for others the Suffering Servant. In this class we’ll explore several images of Jesus in order to deepen our relationship with him and to broaden our horizons. We’ll be meeting at 11 am on Tuesdays throughout Lent at the large classroom. Each class will be concluded with a brief Noonday prayer. Feel free to bring a brownbag lunch.

Wednesday Evening Class: The Death and Resurrection of Jesus

This class is based on a six-part video series intended to help us explore the historical events behind Good Friday and Easter, as well as the meaning that Christians have seen in these events. The series is led by Marcus Borg, an eminent Jesus scholar. Class will meet on Wednesday evening from 8:15 to 9:15 pm. The class is preceded by a light soup supper at 6:30 pm and a Eucharist at 7:30 pm.
