Food Pantry

Cliff Cernek

Each month we publish a list of suggested non-perishable foods needed for distribution at the Sparta Ecumenical Council Food Pantry.  For March, St. Mary’s is asked to donate small or medium sized juice or milk boxes and brownie, cookie or cake mixes.

Did you know

that the pantry is happy to receive any non-perishable items throughout the year?  Watch for coupons or store specials and stock up on canned tuna or chicken and “one-dish” meals such as stew or hearty soups.  Now that the weather is warming up (finally!!), keep a box or bag in your trunk and buy as you go.  If there’s a “two-fer” special and you only need one, toss the second item into your own collection bin and drop off at church on Sunday.

Did you know

Did you know that you can donate personal care items such as toothbrushes/toothpaste, soap, shampoo, razors and feminine hygiene products?  There are often good coupons in the paper for these items, perhaps for a brand you do not use.  Dollar Stores are also a great – and reasonable – source for many non-perishable food items and toiletries.

Did you know:

Many of the Food Pantry families have cherished pets.  Keep them in mind when you see store specials on pet food, cat litter, etc.

"Spring is coming when new things begin to emerge."

Look for St. Mary's new approach to collections for the Food Pantry beginning in April.  Shhhhhhhh, it's a secret until then but keep the donations coming and place them inside the beautiful food cabinet in the Narthex. Your efforts are deeply appreciated
